Dharamshala - Himachal Pradesh.

Dharamshala stands at the foot of Dhauladhar and has a extremely beautiful view of snowy peaks, deodar and pine forests, tea gardens and beautiful hills.
The snow line is perhaps more easily accessible at Dharamshala than other hill station in India. Dharamshala now really has become international, with
a number of Tibetan accommodation and the residence of Noble Laureate the 'Dalai Lama'.

Dharamshala
Dharamshala - Himachal Pradesh.

Dharamshala is divided into two distinct parts :

  • lower Dharamshala the civil and business area with Courts and Kotwali bazar.
  • upper Dharamshala composed of places like Mcleod Ganj and Forsyth Ganj.

The heart of the Tibetan community of Dharamshala is the settlement of McLeodGanj, which runs along a ridge overlooking the town of Dharamshala proper. McLeodGanj is a small but hustle international centre which combination flavours of Lhasa with elements of a modern Euro-American town in the setting of an Indian shepherds’ village.

Dharamshala attracts a various variety of people from all corners of the earth who come to study and meditate and to make contributions to the Tibetan cause. Some travellers come just for the natural scene (or for the ‘scene’), but those who take the time to explore under the surface are usually transformed by their experiences.

Best time to Visist:

It is good to visit Dharamshala anytime in the year, though, the best season will be between late February and March when the Losar Festival takes place.
Losar festival is a Tibetan festival celebrated to mark the beginning of the Tibetan New Year. Monsoon is experienced here during the months of July, August and September.
In general, if you're looking for snow, winter months are the best. Summer months are better for sight-seeing, trekking, mountain climbing and other activities.
